The season is beginning to shift. Winter is coming to an end and spring is beginning to show her face. The birds have been singing their spring song for a little while now, dancing around in my garden and singing me awake in the mornings. My rose bush has begun to blossom, sprouting big beautiful vivid pink roses which greet me every time that I open my front door.
Spring is slowly awakening but the cold of winter is still lingering around. There is change in the air but she is moving slowly and is carefully easing us out of one season and gently easing us into the next.
The word change has been swirling around in my mind lately. Sometimes the word change can bring negative thoughts to mind but the thoughts of change that have been swirling around in my mind feel positive, like how a caterpillar changes into a butterfly. The little caterpillar feels as though its story is coming to an end but really the change ushers in a whole new beautiful season of becoming a butterfly.
Change is to make something different, to shift, transform or turnover and I can feel that change is lingering in the air and so for the rest of this month I will be writing about the many faces of change. Attempting to get those swirling thoughts about change out of my head and put them into words.
Change can often be hard to accept. We don’t want to let go of the season we are in or we are too afraid to step into the unknown of the next but without change, just like the little caterpillar, we can not transform and we can not fly.
