The greatest promise in the bible is the promise of intimacy with our Heavenly Father. Any time I want to connect with the Lord, He is there, waiting for me. In James 4 verse 8 it says come near to God and He will come near to you.
Intimacy is really knowing and being known by another person. An intimate friend is someone we feel very close to; they know us at a deep level. This is the kind of relationship that we can have with God too. All we have to do is to draw near to Him.
You see God is a gentleman. He doesn’t just barge into our lives, He waits to be invited in. In Revelation 3 verse 20 it says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.” He waits at the door and knocks and it is up to us if we open it and invite Him in. It is up to us to take a hold of Gods promise for an intimate relationship and begin that process of knowing and being known by God.
Jesus came to this earth so that we could go straight to the Father. All that is required of us is that we have faith and believe in Him and we trust Him with all our hearts. We can have all the head knowledge we want but we also need to have faith and trust.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6
When we open the door and invite God in He comes. When we have faith and trust in Him He comes. If you are in troubling times, if you are struggling with anything have faith and trust, invite God in and He will come.
If you are having difficulty in a relationship, invite God into that relationship. If you are struggling with your finances, invite God into the situation and He will come. Let go of trying to do everything in your own power and strength and let God take over.
Ask God what He is dong in the situation, or what He wants you to do and trust that His answers are going to be what is best. Intimacy with God most often happens in the places where we must trust Him the most.
