I love this song. I cling to the words Faithful You are and faithful forever You will be. All Your promises are yes and amen.
These words are powerful, life giving and life changing. The Lord is declaring and giving us an assurance that what He says will happen. All God’s promises, everything that He says is yes and amen. “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God”. 2 Corinthians 1:20
God’s promises are yes. They are not no or maybe. He does not offer us something and then say no I am not really going to give it to you. He promises us what He has written in the bible, all of it, for us, here and now.
We do not have to earn the right to see the Lords promises come true in our lives. They are not a yes but only if you work hard enough and do all the right things, worship enough, pray long enough and know the bible word for word. He gives them to us freely.
So when I find myself struggling I return to this song and to the word of God. I go over the things that He has promised me and proclaim them for myself again.
One thing I struggle with often is provision, knowing and believing that I will have everything that I need. I find myself asking the question will I have enough money this month to meet all of my family’s needs or will I be able to give money to this person in need without having to think twice about it.
So I turn to the word of God and seek out His promises about provision. In the bible it tells me that He will always provide for me…
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philipians 4:19
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Psalm 84:11
So I read these words over and over again and I proclaim them for myself. I sing the song ‘Yes and Amen’ over myself, declaring that He is faithful and His promises are yes and amen. And not only do I proclaim it but I start to believe it and walk it out in my life. The Lord knows my needs and He will take care of them so I need to not get caught up in worrying over them.
If you find yourself struggling to hold onto hope I encourage you to go to the bible and search out all of Gods promises to you written in there. Read them, pray them over yourself and believe in them. And remember that our God is a good God and a faithful God; His promises are yes and amen.
