Stuck in limbo land

At the moment I find myself in limbo, stuck between two destinations, waiting for a green light to signal go or a red light to signal to stay right where I am. I hate it. I am a planner, a dreamer, an always moving forward type of person so being stuck in limbo land is killing me. I find myself waiting for Gods promise and provision to drop and because it is not coming in my expected timeline I am facing feelings of disappointment.

My focus is in the wrong place. I am focusing on what God is not doing rather than what He is doing. Every circumstance that we face in life is a chance for us to grow in our character. I can not just lay down and let my disappointments shape my character in the negative way that they are.

Immediately I began to think of the scripture about the fruits of the Spirit…

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

In my time of waiting I need to choose to focus on what God is doing in me rather than for me. To seize the opportunity to grow in strength of character, to be a person that no matter what is happening in my life I can still walk in the way of love and have joy and peace in my heart. To have the fruits of the Spirit at work in my life, always.

It sounds like an easy thing to do but I have to choose each and every day to shift my focus to what God is doing. Every day I have to ask the Lord for forgiveness for letting my disappointments run my life negatively and I ask Him to reveal the things that He is doing so that I can align my heart with His.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3: 13-14

When life has you stuck, feed on the promises of God instead of dwelling on your disappointments. Look to see what He is doing in you and see every opportunity as a chance to work on strengthening your character.
